Claes Bang Drops Synthwave Gem “Waiting for the Count-In”

Opening

Claes Bang is back on his music grind. The Danish actor just dropped a new single called "Waiting for the Count-In" under his long-running project This is not America. And yeah, it slaps.

You might know Bang from his acting roles. He was in The Northman. He played Dracula on BBC. He won a European Film Award for The Square. But music has been his side hustle for over two decades now.

"Waiting for the Count-In" is synth pop with a synthwave edge. It came out on August 28, 2026. This track follows "Bring Me Back" as part of a bigger EP coming soon.

The 6ix Report

Let's talk vibes. "Waiting for the Count-In" has that late-night drive energy. You know the feeling. City lights blur past. The beat kicks in soft. Then the synths start building.

Bang knows how to craft a mood. This track sits somewhere between chillwave and classic synth pop. It does not try too hard. It just floats.

The title says a lot. Waiting for the count-in. That moment before everything starts. The anticipation. Bang captures that feeling in sound.

Toronto heads who grew up on OVO late-night playlists will get this. It is not rap. But the vibe is similar. Moody. Reflective. Perfect for headphones at 2 AM.

Synthwave has been having a moment for years now. But Bang brings something different. He is not just chasing retro sounds. There is real emotion here. You can feel it.

About Claes Bang

Claes Kasper Bang was born in Odense, Denmark on April 28, 1967. He started making music on his computer back in 2002. Taught himself piano and guitar along the way.

In 2008, he adopted the alias This is not America. The name comes from a David Bowie song. Smart move. Danish radio had a rule back then. They would not play actors on air.

So Bang stayed lowkey. His early singles "Don't Come Crying," "Shameless," and "Run" got real radio support. Then broadcasters figured out who was behind the project. The jig was up.

His debut album Dislocated dropped in 2010. Since then, he has released multiple EPs and singles. He has worked with Marina Schiptjenko and Charlotte Munck. The man stays busy.

His acting career took off too. He became the first Danish actor to win the European Film Award for Best Actor. That was for The Square. He has been in Bad Sisters and tons of other stuff.

But music never left. This is not America is still going strong. "Waiting for the Count-In" proves that.

Why This Track Slaps

First off, the production is clean. Bang handles that himself. The synths layer nicely. Nothing feels overcrowded.

The melody sticks with you. I caught myself humming it after one listen. That is a good sign. Some synth pop forgets the pop part. Bang does not.

The pacing is solid too. It builds without rushing. The track knows when to pull back and when to push forward. That takes skill.

Lyrically, it hits different. Bang writes about waiting. About that pause before something begins. It feels personal. It feels universal.

Fans of This is not America will vibe with this. New listeners might get hooked too. It is accessible without being basic. That balance is hard to find.

The synthwave scene is crowded right now. Lots of artists chasing the same sound. Bang stands apart because he brings his own story. His own perspective. That matters.

Run It Back

"Waiting for the Count-In" is out now. It is part of a forthcoming EP from This is not America. If you mess with synth pop or synthwave, give it a spin.

Claes Bang keeps proving he is more than just an actor. His music deserves your attention. Stream "Waiting for the Count-In" today and add it to your late-night rotation. Trust me, the vibes are immaculate.
