Wizkid and Tems Made Magic With Essence

Okay so I need to tell you about this song. I stumbled on it last week and I have not stopped playing it since. It is called Essence and it is by Wizkid featuring Tems. Trust me, this one hits different.

So Here's the Deal

Wizkid dropped Essence on October 30, 2020. It is a track off his album Made in Lagos. The song mixes Afrobeats and R&B in a way that just feels right.

This track features Tems, who is another crazy talented Nigerian artist. Together they made something really special. The song blew up fast.

It became the first Nigerian song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. People everywhere were calling it the song of the summer. And honestly? They were not wrong.

About Wizkid

If you do not know Wizkid yet, let me put you on. He is a singer and songwriter from Lagos, Nigeria. He has been doing this for a minute now.

Wizkid is one of the biggest African artists of all time. That is not an exaggeration. He has worked with Drake, Beyonce, and Chris Brown. His resume is stacked.

His album Made in Lagos really put him on the map worldwide. It helped bring Afrobeats into mainstream Western music. That album changed things for a lot of artists.

So when he dropped Essence, people were already paying attention. But nobody expected it to go this crazy. The song just kept growing and growing.

What It Sounds Like

Essence is smooth. Like, really smooth. The beat is warm and groovy. It makes you want to sway even if you are just sitting at home.

Wizkid's vocals are soft and relaxed. He sounds like he is having a conversation with someone he loves. Tems comes in and her voice is just gorgeous. Their voices blend together perfectly.

The song is about connection and attraction. It has this romantic energy that feels universal. You do not need to understand every word to feel it.

There is a reason DJs everywhere were spinning this track. It works in the club, in the car, and in your headphones at 2am. The vibe is unmatched.
